On this page you will find thumbnails of photos that I liked and wanted to show. I may add/subtract from this page at various times. To view any of the photographs just click on the thumbnail.
Not a very flattering photo but no matter it was a great moment. I never expected a lifetime achievement award and receiving it from the Portes Foundation through Institute of Medicine of Chicago was a memorable moment.
I don't usually consider the photos of animals in the zoo fair game for my work but he was so exceptionally beautiful and playing to his female mates that I couldn't resist
My Favorite "Pet"
We had to start out around dawn to track him. Our Tracker/Driver said that he knew the area we'd find him in if he hadn't already retired to his abode. We found him in the bush moving rather slowly and silently. More
Prancing in the Desert
This is the desert during the raining season when it floods. As you see the Impala have no problem dealing with the water. This is the Kalahari Desert in Botswana
Sunset in the Okavango Delta
My only regret in taking this photo was that I couldn't shoot fast enough or stable enough to catch the birds a little sharper. It was a wonderful day

In The Beagle Channel
We saw this glacier in 2005. It is in the Beagle Channel in the southern part of Patagonia. We have been back on two more trips but not only have we not seen it again, the tour directors and ship's officers have never seen it. Perhaps the bay is too small for even our relatively small ship (300 passengers). The ship we were on in 2005 only held 150. I hope that was the reason and not that global warming has destroyed it.
VICTORIA FALLS
This panorama of Victoria Falls started out to be a ordinary photo but because the lens could not be kept dry and the waterspots could not all be removed I elected to change it into an attempt at a watercolor print rather than a straight print. What do you think?
Sunday in Lincoln Park
This is one of my all-time favorite photos. The problem is that I can't get the colors, and shading correct. Part of the problem is that this photo was taken in 1992 and my scan of it was not as good as it should have been. I guess I could go back to the negative and get it scanned properly. Meanwhile, I'll keep working on improving the presentation.
On the Charles Bridge, Prague
This was taken in 2002. It was a nice Sunday and we were just exploring the old town. I was taken by all the activity on the Bridge (The Charles Bridge 15th Century). I was taking numerous pictures but this scene caught my eye. More
In the South of Thailand
I hate getting up early in the morning. According to my photo colleague it was the only way to get this picture. He had been at this little fishing camp a few days ago and thought there was much to see and photograph. He suggested we get there at dawn and we might have a chance to photography the dawn as well as the fishermen starting their day. I'll put them all together sometime but this is one of my best. Taken in the south of Thailand.
On the road in Central India
From the wonders of Northern India into Central India to visit the Tiger Reserves
From Our Balcony
I think that this was the most complete rainbow I have ever seen. I just wasn't able to capture all of it (now I have a great wide angle lens so I'll get it all next time). Anyway I don't think there was a treasure at the end of the rainbow but the rainbow was a treasure.
In reviewing my albums on various websites, I found this set of photos. It was assembled using a Kodak site. when Kodak closed the site I transferred the album to Shutterfly . Click on the photo. When the album appears, click on the photo to the left and you will be able to review them individually. If you want to view them as a slideshow you should see a slideshow indicator near the bottom of the page.
It was from this set of photos that I assembled a printed showing at SPEX on Clark
Sunset on the Bosphorus
Coming into the Istanbul harbour on the Bosphorus. The Clouds were dark and the Sun an unbelievable round ball just prior to sunset. We were on our way to visit the ports in the Black Sea.
Wengen in the Swiss Alps
This photo is really just a place saver. We met a lovely couple on our cruise across the Atlantic. They are Swiss and he is, as he called himself a Nikonian (and not a Canonian). I put this photo up to remind me to find my favorite from what was a memorable tour of Switzerland. Soon to come.
Pigeon Point on the Monterey Peninsula.
You'll find several pictures of this lighthouse in Photo Themes. I have taken it in the fog, with artists attempting to paint it, from different angles. What I'd like to do is take it at sunrise and at sunset. More
From our Family Vacation 2016
All 16 of us. All the Family Vacations have been great but this might have been at the beginning of the best. The background is the Buda bank of Budapest.
